Document, Don't Create

Document, Don't Create

I started to focus on my process and not the individual results. I made this blog, shared my work and I uploaded it regardless of the quality. Of course, I didn't put every shot on here, but I did include ones that show signs of growth. I stopped focusing on individual pieces of art and looked at this website as the creation. I think it's important to view things that way.

If You Enjoy The Blog Then Please Support Me On Patreon

One of my favorite TED Talks is from Amanda Palmer. It's entitled The Art of Asking. Her theory is; don't make people pay for anything, but let them. The whole meaning is that people don't want to be forced into buying a product or idea, but if they enjoy it then they'll likely want too.

I See You... But I Can't Hear You

I See You... But I Can't Hear You

For those who have been a part of this blog since it's initiation then you know I'm big on engagement... I've talked about it time and time again. This blog is my journal, it's where I come to document my experience - Not just the actual picture taking process, but everything, from taking on clients, to making presets and even a behind the scenes look at what it takes to grow and maintain a steady blog.

Many of you have come along for this ride, last year I hit about 100,000 users, this year I'm on pace to somewhat double that... Yet I only hear from a few of you. I'm assuming the majority of users who visit this site are photographers. Don't be afraid to engage, it can only help you. By commenting or being a part of a community it allows you to not only take in new information but make new friends.

So I finally decided to create this page... Over the last 2 years, I've been documenting my personal growth within photography and so many of you have come along for the ride. Initially, it was me posting solely for me, but now I see this blog as a platform for us to learn together. Many of you have thanked me for my contributions, some came in the form of email, others through DM on social media outlets and a large number of you even contributed to the blog out of your own pocket.

I've been asked by a few to set up a page where contributions could be made regularly but was unsure how it would look to the overall community. Well, it's now come to the point where I may have no choice but to do so. In order to sustain this blog and grow it, I need everyone's help. With that being said if you've found any of the content I create beneficial then consider becoming a Patron.

I've setup a page where you can interact with me on a more personal level. Again this is solely put in place for those who enjoy the blog. I hope you all take this post in a positive way, as it takes a lot to say "Hey I need help". The link is below, and for those who contribute I just want you to know that I truly appreciate it.

Figuring Out What You Want to Do In Life Is So Much Harder Then Doing What You Want To Do In Life

Figuring Out What You Want to Do In Life Is So Much Harder Then Doing What You Want To Do In Life

I know this title is long winded and possibly confusing, but I stand by this statement wholeheartedly. Lately, I've been going through my own personal crossroads and though I'm a quote on quote "doer" I'm not doing all that I'm capable of. I hate the word potential, but deep down inside I know I have so much of it but before I get into this I'm going to say this phrase one more time. Figuring out what you want to do, is so much harder, then doing what you want to do.
